The Story

Ten lives. Ten unfinished journeys. One artist who refuses to disappear.

Perpetua is a woman marked by ten past lives, each an unfinished attempt to reach the light, recognition, and the stage. In every lifetime, just as glory comes within reach, fate strikes her down. Yet every ending becomes another beginning. Driven by an unyielding passion, she finds the strength to start again from nothing.

Moving through memory, dream, and reincarnation, Perpetua becomes an artist in one age after another. Each life brings a new world, a new identity, and a new obstacle between her and the vocation she cannot abandon.

Between laughter and tears, shattered illusions and inner rebirth, her journey becomes a tribute to resilience, artistic purpose, and the power to believe in oneself again when all appears lost.

The Artistic World

Every life opens like a new theatrical world.

Perpetua is a bright and spectacular one-woman musical where coming-of-age storytelling, poetic comedy, and intimate tragedy meet. Each era unfolds like a living painting, carrying its own colour, energy, and wound.

Contemporary dance, tap, live instruments, and moments of visual transformation allow the heroine to move between centuries without losing the emotional thread that connects every life.

The score travels from orchestral pop and symphonic swells to vintage jazz and intimate ballads. Its changing musical languages form the heartbeat of a story that is always moving forward, even when destiny tries to return it to the beginning.

At its centre is the sacred fire of the artist, the inner voice that refuses silence and continues to create after disappointment, injustice, and loss.

From the Creator

What if the dream survives every ending?

Perpetua began with the idea of a woman trapped in a cycle of failure, always one breath away from success. That starting point soon opened the door to something greater: destiny, vocation, and the inner voice that persists against every obstacle.

I had long wanted to create a show for Beatriz Drummond, whose stage presence and exceptional range made it possible to imagine one performer carrying different eras, musical styles, and characters. From there came the story of an artist who continues to pursue her calling across history, even when faced with Death itself.

Each life becomes a mirror for our own time, our struggles, and the dreams we have abandoned. Humour, emotion, music, and movement allow the show to travel between past, present, and eternity while remaining grounded in one woman’s need to create.

The musical carries spiritual, social, artistic, and human questions, but its central conviction is simple. When the world appears to be moving towards an unknown abyss, our greatest hope remains the infinite power of love.
